Bowerbird
A hand painted original watercolour painting of a Satin Bowerbird. Most animals live in a sophisticated ecological balance with their natural surroundings. However, the Satin Bowerbird takes “reduce, reuse, recycle” to another dimension, often repurposing our trash. To attract a mate the male often collects bright blue objects to decorate his "bower"; bottle tops, pegs, sweet wrappers, drinking straws, twine, electrical tape. To the Satin Bowerbird these objects are obviously very seductive! Away from human influence they might perhaps utilise blue feathers, flowers, berries or snail shells. I think these objects are much more alluring than our trash!
